About the Studio

Somewhere along the way, we stop doodling. Almost every child creates without being asked.

They draw impossible animals. Purple trees. Families with arms coming straight out of their heads. They make things simply because they had an idea and wanted to see what it looked like. And then, somewhere along the way, something changes.

We begin comparing. We become more aware of our mistakes. The doubt creeps in, and we begin to second guess everything we do. For many of us, that is where creativity gets thrown to the side to make room for all the grown up responsibilities and maturity expected of us.

Doodle Buddies was created for those that want to re-connect with their inner child again.

It is a place to learn technique without losing curiosity. To become more skilled without becoming more afraid. To discover that an imperfect line can become part of the drawing, that starting over isn’t failure, and that not knowing what you’re doing yet is often where something interesting begins. Because art teaches us something bigger than how to draw.

It asks us to make decisions without knowing exactly how they’ll turn out. To trust our own ideas. To sit with frustration. To adapt. To notice things we normally overlook. And to put something into the world that wasn’t there before.

Those are skills worth carrying far beyond a sketchbook.

Hi, I'm Ryleigh, the artist and instructor behind Doodle Buddies!

As a lifelong artist with experience across a wide range of mediums, including graphite, colored pencil, watercolor, acrylic, ink, mixed media, and digital art, and more, I'm passionate about helping young artists discover the joy of creating. My background in psychology and sociology has given me an appreciation for how differently each individual learns, allowing me to tailor every lesson to their unique interests, skill level, and goals.

My mission is simple: to create a fun, encouraging space where every person can build confidence, develop new artistic skills, and leave each lesson excited to create again.
